Welcome Reception

All registered WSOF attendees are invited to join your colleagues at the Welcome Reception. The event buffet style banquet and music will take place at The Lord Mayor’s Residence.
The unique premises of the Lord Mayor’s Residence are considered an artistic and architectural gem in the art deco style. The residence of the Mayor was established in the years 1925-1928 by architect František Roith and occupies the entire first and second floor of the front tract of the City Library at the Mariánské square.
Please remember to wear your conference registration badges. Dress code is smart casual or formal.

City Tour
9 April 2025 • 17:30 – 18:30 CEST | Offsite location
Registered conference attendees are invited to a short guided tour of the historical center of Prague just before the Vltava River Cruise.
Walk through time in the historical centre of Prague. From the Old Town, most ancient Prague´s quarter abounding with medieval houses, baroque palaces and churches, through uniquely preserved Jewish Quarter.
The city tour will be followed by the Vltava River Cruise.
Registration for the City tour will be possible onsite at the WSOF Registration Desk
The tour will depart from the conference venue.
The projected time of meeting with tour guides is 17:15 hrs on Wednesday at the conference venue. Meeting point is in the lobby near the restaurant Veduta.
Information including departure time updates will be available at the WSOF registration desk.

Vltava River Cruise wih Dinner Banquet

All registered conference attendees are invited to join us for a stylish buffet dinner aboard a Vltava sightseeing boat. Admire Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, Kampa Island, and other landmarks of Prague from the water during an evening city cruise. Enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience and admire the undisturbed views of Prague’s monuments from a boat deck
Please remember to wear your conference registration badges. Dress is casual.
Boat departs at 7:00 pm sharp.
We sail on boat named Czechie from Dock No. 14, Na Františku, Prague 1.

Posters-Tuesday
8 April 2025 • 17:30 – 19:00 CEST | Meridian Hall
Symposium attendees are invited to attend the poster session on Tuesday evening. Come view the posters, enjoy light refreshments, ask questions, and network with colleagues in your field. Authors of poster papers will be present to answer questions concerning their papers. Remember to wear your registration badge.
Poster Setup: Tuesday 10:00 – 17:00 hrs. Poster authors will attend and present a printed poster at the meeting (each poster presenter must bring a printed version of their poster). Most typical poster size is a format A0 (841 mm width and 1189 mm height). The WSOF proceedings will not contain poster pdfs, but the 2-4 page-long extended abstracts. We recommend to take advantage of having the posters visible for all the WSOF attendees until the end of the event on Thursday 10 April.
Lab Tour: Optical Fibre Technology at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics

Registered attendees are invited to visit the laboratory for fabrication of specialty optical fibres for fibre lasers and optical fibre sensors. The laboratory is part of the Institute of Photonics and Electronics (ÚFE) of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Transportation will be provided.
Registration for the tour will be possible onsite at the WSOF Registration Desk.
The projected time of the shuttle departure is 17:30 on Thursday from the conference venue. Information about the departure location and any departure time updates will be available at the WSOF registration desk.
Tour duration: 2.5 hours (including travel).

Lab Tour: Synthetic Crystal Manufacturing and Processing at Crytur

Registered attendees are invited to visit Crytur, the integrated provider of opto-electonic solutions for science and hi-tech industrial applications. Transportation will be provided.
Crytur is one of the world’s leading companies in synthetic crystal manufacturing and processing and provides integrated solutions with application in lasers, electron microscopy, detection and high-power lighting for hi-tech industry and research. The Lab Tour will take you through the process of growing of synthetic garnet crystals, precision material processing and clan-room assembly of integrated opto-electronic devices.

Return to Prague is expected between 15:00 (no traffic delays) and 17:00 hrs (with traffic delays). In case of a delayed return (17:00 hrs) to Prague, please ensure you’ve planned to have sufficient time to reach the airport and board your flight.
