Travel and visa
Accomodation directly at the event venue is possible, please see the webpage of the SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics (here) for additional information. Since the WSOF venue is directly on top of the Metro B station “Vysocanska” in the east part of the city, the connection to the conference venue is quick and easy also from other places. Municipal transport ticket valid for the whole duration of the event will be provided at the registration along with the conference badge.
If you need an invitation letter for obtaining visa, please send your conference paper details and required visa information (Title | first name | LAST NAME | Institution name | Institution address | postcode | city | country | date of birth | nationality | passport number | date of entry into the Czech Republic | date of departure from the Czech Republic | name of the hotel where the applicant will stay) to wsof2025@ufe.cz. Transportation from the Václav Havel Airport Prague
By trolleybus 59 or bus 100 (Public transport): Use trolleybus Line 59 from Prague Airport (the bus stops in front of both Terminals) to Nádraží Veleslavín station (it is the end stop of trolleybus Line 59). Then take subway/metro line A (green line) from Nádraží Veleslavín station to Můstek (6th station in Depo Hostivař direction). Můstek is located in the city center. At Můstek, change to the subway line B (yellow line) and take the train in direction Černý most. to Vysočanská station. The conference venue, Clarion Congress Hotel Prague is located on top of the station Vysočanská. You can use a 40 CZK ticket (this ticket is valid for 90 min after validating the ticket, e.g., in the bus). You can find information or buy tickets in public transport info centers at the airport. The info centers are located at the arrivals hall of both terminals and are open daily from 7:00 to 21:00. They offer all the relevant information on the operation of public transport in Prague, its routes, timetables and maps of the public transport network (free of charge). Please note that all registered attendees will receive a coupon for public transportation for the duration of the WSOF event. The coupon will be provided together with the conference badge. The bus 100 wil brings you from the airport directly to the yellow metro line B, terminal station Zličín, from where you continue to the conference venue at Vysočanská station. Note that a special Airport to city center bus line AE (Airport Express) you probably will not need. Its route ends at the main railway station (Hlavní nádraží) and public transport tickets ARE NOT ACCEPTED on bus line AE, nor are AE tickets transferable to other lines, so the whole trip is more expensive with no special benefit against trolleybus Line 59 (described above). On the line AE you will have to pay directly to the bus driver (a one-way ticket to/from the main railway station is priced at least 100 CZK) and you will have to buy an additional 40 CZK ticket before entering the subway to continue your trip. By taxi: Taxis are much more expensive than public transport, typically about be about 1200 CZK (~47 EUR), and due to heavy traffic during working days it could be even slower.
